Job Description for Co-Chair, Council of State Affiliate Representatives
and AGS Board of Directors Representative

Criteria:

  1. Active in geriatric medicine at the state and local level
  2. Able to represent and articulate the views of the state affiliates
  3. Time to devote not only to the AGS Board of Directors and committees, but also to conduct projects with the Board and staff on behalf of the state affiliates
  4. Knowledge of the AGS history and its positions

Responsibilities as COSAR Co-Chair:

  1. Serve a term of three years
  2. Review and approve the agenda prior to COSAR meetings
  3. Share facilitation of bi-annual meetings
  4. Communicate periodically with AGS affiliate officers
  5. Review and approve Council policies and resolutions
  6. Represent COSAR on the AGS Board of Directors and actively articulate the views of the Council and the state affiliates

Board of Directors Responsibilities:

  1. Serve a term of three years
  2. May be asked to serve on one or more AGS committees
  3. Review all agendas prior to Board and committee meetings, and prepare appropriate comments and recommendations in advance
  4. Attend all regularly scheduled Board meetings and assigned committee meetings, and report on affiliate and COSAR activities
  5. Respond to memos, review and approve Society policies, and serve in a consultive capacity to AGS staff regarding special projects, information requests, etc.
  6. May be asked to serve, as an AGS liaison to related organizations, attending required meetings
  7. Participate in the projects and programs of the Society, including (but not limited to) serving as faculty for AGS-sponsored CME programs, serving as faculty on the AGS Annual Meeting program, and assisting with membership recruitment and fund-raising
