What: The 1999 Annual Scientific Meeting of the American Geriatrics
Society (AGS) and the American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR),
the nation’s premier forum for the latest information on clinical
geriatrics, research on aging, geriatrics in managed care, innovative
teaching methods for geriatrics professionals, and much more.
When: May 19-23,1999
Where: Philadelphia Marriott and the Pennsylvania Convention Center
Meeting Highlights:
- What If It’s Alzheimer’s?
(5/22). A public forum on how patients and caregivers can cope
with the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. Free
to the public, the forum is the kickoff event for the new AGS
Foundation for Health in Aging (FHA).
- Alzheimer’s Disease: Emerging
Trends (5/21). A special daylong symposium covering the
latest research findings and the most effective pharmacologic
and nonpharmacologic treatments.
- Fourth Annual Health Care Systems
Review (5/19). Formerly called Managed Care Day, the new
title reflects an expanded, daylong program on providing quality
health care to older adults in various health care systems.
- Update on Long-Term-Care (5/23).
Following a successful debut in 1998, this session will address
oral health, urinary incontinence protocols, dehydration and disaster
prevention in long-term-care settings-.
- Meet-the-Expert Sessions
in which attendees discuss cutting-edge and emerging geriatrics
topics with experts in small group settings. Sessions include:
