Program Overview

The Association of Directors of Geriatric Academic Programs (ADGAP), with funding from the John A. Hartford Foundation of New York City, has developed a 2-year training program to increase the leadership skills of newly appointed geriatrics program directors through intensive formal training, close mentorship and strong peer-support. The specific goal of the Hartford Geriatrics Leadership Scholars Program is to develop the leadership/management skills of new geriatrics directors by:

  1. A short intensive formal leadership training experience
  2. Mentorship by leadership at the director's home institution
  3. Mentorship by senior geriatrics leaders, including annual site visits to monitor progress
  4. Peer group support
