Join ADGAP

There are three types of ADGAP Members:

  • Class I Members - Leaders of geriatric departments or divisions at accredited medical and osteopathic schools and fellowship program directors in free standing, university-affiliated and non-affiliated ACGME accredited hospital-based programs. A Fellowship Program Director can represent the hospital where the Fellowship Program is based, regardless of whether such Fellowship Program is affiliated or not affiliated with an accredited school. Any accredited new medical school in the US or Puerto Rico, which confers the degree of Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy, will be entitled to one membership. Each institution will have one representative regardless of the number of geriatric programs they may establish. For those institutions with more than one department of medicine and/or division of geriatric medicine, the Class I members will be selected by the Dean of the respective accredited medical or osteopathic school.

The benefits of ADGAP Class I membership are:

    • A FREE Class III (non-voting) membership for an additional faculty member.
    • Opportunities to discuss the wide variety of research, education, and clinical issues confronting directors of geriatrics academic programs.
    • A voice in joint advocacy efforts by the AGS and ADGAP on issues of shared interest.
    • Membership in a Special Interest Group for Fellowship Program Directors that was created specifically to meet their need for a separate forum for discussion of their issues.
    • Regular communication through the ADGAP list serv.
    • Networking opportunities with other members at ADGAP's May and November Business Meetings.
    • Access to up-to-date member contact information via the Membership Directory.
    • Free Job posting via the ADGAP list serv.

  • Class II Member - The Class II member is the American Geriatrics Society.

  • Class III Members - Those individuals who are not eligible under the ADGAP By-Laws to become Class I members. ADGAP provides access to a number of the benefits of Class I membership in the organization through the non-voting Class III membership.

  • Members Emeritus - former Class I members who are no longer the Geriatric Academic Program Director at their institution, but remain interested in ADGAP's purpose. This is a non-voting membership.
