Development Director

Description
The Executive Director should bring vision and leadership to the organization and is responsible for the general management of the AGS affiliate, including setting short and long term direction and performance expectations, assuring sound financial systems, generating revenue by providing leadership in all development efforts, evaluating programs and services, serving as a civic and community spokesperson, and coaching and mentoring staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership for the Chair, the Board of Trustees, key Board committees, and staff to enable timely and responsible decision-making
  • Maintain an organizational climate that attracts, motivates and retains high quality staff by implementing appropriate human resources policies and practices
  • Guide, develop and coach staff and ensure that annual reviews are conducted in a timely and constructive manner
  • Clearly communicate organizational goals to all stakeholders
  • Position the Affiliate and its programs to maximize fund development and other revenue opportunities; solicit key donors and develop key community, corporate, government and related sectors in support of the Affiliate’s fundraising goals
  • Sustain the financial health of the Affiliate
  • Ensure development of quality programs and services to meet community needs and maximize services to the Affiliate’s constituencies

Skills and Experience

  • Masters Degree in public, health or business management or a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Five years of demonstrated senior management experience in non-profit or business management position(s)
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and experience in budgeting and financial management
  • Working knowledge of human resources laws and regulations
  • Experience supervising professional and clerical staff and volunteers
  • Proficient user of personal computer and software applications
