Executive Secretary/Administrative Assistant
Description/Background
Several state affiliates have found that hiring an efficient administrative assistant or executive secretary enhances the effectiveness of the state affiliate and in fact pays for itself in increased efficiency, dues collection, etc.
Responsibilities
- Expedite the essential administrative and paper work of the affiliate
- Coordinate meeting planning
- Write and mail announcements
- Keep accurate mailing and membership lists
- Correspond with local members, other affiliates, and the AGS National office
- Correspond with the press and local community
Skills and Experience
- Strong organizational skills
- Effective written and oral communication
- Good decision-making skills
- Ability to recruit, train, mobilize, engage and supervise volunteers
- Word processing experience
- Detail-oriented
- Willing to take initiative
- Able to handle simultaneous demands
