Speaker: Kathy Greenlee, Assistant Secretary for Aging, Department of Health and Human Services
Kathy Greenlee was appointed as the fourth Assistant Secretary for Aging at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the Senate in June 2009. Ms. Greenlee has long been an advocate for advancing the health and independence of older persons and their families. Prior to becoming Assistant Secretary, she served as Secretary of Aging for the state of Kansas. Before that she specialized in elder law at the Legal Aid Society of Topeka, and served as ombudsman for long-term care in Kansas. Learning Objective: (1) discuss the implementation of President Obama's Health Care Reform initiatives, including how they will improve the quality and effectiveness of care delivered to older adults and how they would expand training to prepare primary care physicians and other healthcare providers to better meet the unique healthcare needs of the aging.
