Learning Objectives: (1) discuss the indication for use, mechanism of action, pharmacokinetics, dosing, safety and drug interactions for recently or soon to be approved medications; (2) discuss the potential advantages and disadvantages of the new medications compared to existing therapies; (3) discuss recent literature pertaining to medication-related problems in older adults (geriatric syndromes, adverse drug events, medication errors); and (4) identify medications that may be contributing to falls, confusion, urinary incontinence and other serious adverse events in older adults.
