Strategies and Tools for Promoting an Elderly Friendly Environment

Learning Objectives: (1) describe the role of NICHE in collaborating with hospitals to develop a systematic approach to elderly friendly environments; (2) discuss clinical and operational initiatives related to policies, protocols, evidence based practices and programs to improve geriatric competence of nursing and hospital staff; and (3) perform a brief self assessment, identify specific areas needing improvement and develop a take home strategy for implementation.
