CALL FOR NOMINATION
FIT WANTS YOU
The American Geriatrics Society (AGS) invites you to submit your nomination for the Fellows-in-Training Chair-Elect position.
Election to this position is conducted annually. Only current members will be considered as candidates and nominations will be considered only during the year they are presented. A colleague may nominate a candidate or may self-nominate using enclosed form.
Responsibilities of the Chair-elect include:
- Working with the Chair in planning the AGS Annual Meeting activities
- Submitting articles to the FIT Newsletter
- Works with the Chair on the Fellows-in-training Website
Responsibilities of the Chair include:
- Work with the chair elect to plan Annual Meeting activities
- Writes articles for submission to the F.I.T Newsletter
- Acts as the spokesperson within the AGS Fellows-in-Training
- Fellows-In-Training representative at AGS Education Committee
- Serves in this capacity for one year, after serving as chair-elect.
Upon reviewing the application received, the nominee will be informed of his or her nomination by letter. A ballot will then be sent to all members so that they may vote for the candidate of their choice. The candidate who receives a majority vote will be declared the winner. Each candidate will be notified of the election result and the successful candidate will be announced in the AGS Newsletter as well as at the Fellows-in-Training Luncheon at the AGS 2002 Annual Meeting. The Chair Elect's term as Chair will begin at the May 2002 meeting and will include service on the Education Committee of the American Geriatrics Society. Until then, the Chair Elect will assist the current Chair in their responsibilities as needed.
Please use the response form on the reverse side to nominate a candidate of your choice for the position of Chair-Elect of the AGS Fellows-in-Training Section. Just complete and tear out the form and send it to David Haugland via fax 212-832-8646 or by mail. All nominations must be received by November 15, 2001. A ballot will then be sent to FIT members by December 1st with the winner announced by January 1st. As per AGS procedures, the new Chair-Elect will become Fellows-in-Training Chair immediately following AGS Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.
