Spread the Word: Popular Futures Program Open for 2005 By Faith Gladden at AMDA

The AMDA Foundation Futures Program has become a popular tradition at the AMDA Annual Symposium. Open to residents and fellows nationwide, the program attracts many of tomorrow's brightest long term care leaders. They come into the Futures Program with interest and questions; they depart with new knowledge, career ideas, contacts, and friends.

This intensive learning experience is designed to expose residents and fellows to the numerous career opportunities available in long term care, and feedback from participants suggests that it does that and more. They praise the program, and they make the most of the opportunity to attend meeting sessions and talk to AMDA members.

This program has brought more than one promising leader into the folds of AMDA and long term care. Take the case of Cari Levy. She participated in the Futures Program two years ago; and her experiences with the program and the AMDA Annual Symposium led her to become one of last year's Foundation/Pfizer Quality Improvement Award winners. "I have felt such tremendous support from AMDA since participating in the Futures Program, and I was eager to participate in another AMDA sponsored program," she says. "This project has generated additional research questions has stimulated my desire to move forward with proposals to answer these questions." And it was all triggered by her involvement with the Futures Program.

Participants chosen for this program will receive the following benefits:

  • Admission to the AMDA Futures Program on March 17, 2005
  • Registration to the AMDA Annual Symposium, March 17-20, 2005 in New Orleans, LA
