The annual Fellows-in-Training breakfast will feature a presentation by Dr. William Hall, Director, Center for Healthy Aging at Highland Hospital. The traditional roundtables give attendees an opportunity to meet with leaders in geriatrics on a variety of topics such as job selection and balancing your personal and professional life.

This annual AGS Foundation for Heath in Aging (FHA) event will take place at the Epcot® Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. The $85.00 ticket price includes fabulous entertainment, a Junior Faculty skit, Open bar and desserts, and a chance to win many great door prizes! Proceeds from the event will be used to support travel expenses for students in all health professional disciples whose research has been accepted for presentation at the AGS Annual Meeting.
Pearls on Publishing and Reviewing Papers

This session will describe what types of papers are most appropriate for the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society and how articles should be submitted. Presenters will provide information on how reviews are performed, what factors determine a "good" or "bad" paper, and how editors examine manuscripts to determine if they should be accepted or rejected. At the end of this workshop, participants should be able to: (1) understand how manuscripts are processed in an editorial office; (2) be able to describe elements or aspects of a paper that determine it to be rejected or accepted; (3) describe the approach to reviewing a scientific article
Junior Faculty Research Career Development SIG Symposium: "Connecting the New Generation with Geriatric experts: A Round-Table Discussion & Funding workshop"

The Round-Table Discussion -part of this workshop is intended to foster the research interests and career development of junior faculty, fellows, and students by introducing senior faculty and leaders of certain research fields in geriatrics to them for an open discussion. There will be round tables on various topics such as dementia/delirium/ mental illness; falls/frailty; urinary incontinence; LTC/Hospital Care/ House call; and end-of-life care. The second part of the workshop will give you an overview of funding opportunities in geriatrics with a chance to talk to recipients of these awards in a Q & A format (e.g. Beeson/ K23 awardees, Hartford Scholars, VA career awardees, recipients of R03 or R 21s etc).
