Greetings to all current and incoming fellows! I look forward to meeting you all in Chicago this spring, and am excited for the Fellows-in-Training breakfast which is being planned by our current chair, Rachelle Bernacki. Over the coming year I am hoping that together we can continue to advance the interests and concerns of geriatric fellows from all walks of training: clinically minded fellows, full time researchers, and public policy wonks alike. Surely our personal interests pull us in different directions, but to survive as a specialty, attract quality trainees, and produce the maximum benefit for our geriatric population, we must remain engaged in the common mission, goals, and activities of our profession. This is something I have always believed, and why I have been, and remain, active in my professional societies.
My goals for the section over the next fifteen months are to 1) promote mingling among our section though activities like the FIT-breakfast and other social functions, 2) take your ideas to the AGS education committee and represent them faithfully, and 3) help provide leadership opportunities for our members in the larger AGS organization. I am eager for your ideas and feedback as we proceed into the 2006-07 cycle. Please feel free to approach me and tell me about your interests, and I look forward to meeting you all soon.
Sincerely,
Marc D. Rothman, MD
