Wisconsin Update in Geriatric Medicine and Board Review Course
September 8th - September 11th, 2013
The Wisconsin Update in Geriatric Medicine and Board Review Course is an in-depth review of the field of Geriatric Medicine. It is designed for geriatric medicine providers: physicians, nurses and nurse practitioners, pharmacists, psychologists, dieticians, and social workers who wish to provide better care for their geriatric patients. Physicians planning to sit for the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) Examination in Geriatric Medicine(or Re-certification) also benefit from the course, which is co-sponsored by the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Special emphasis is placed on neuropsychiatry, pharmacological and nonpharmacological approaches to treatment, and systems of geriatric care including long- term care and geriatric assessment. New for 2013, break-out sessions for social workers, pharmacists, nurses and nurse practitioners will offer content specifically designed for these professionals. Specialized topics include advanced geriatric case management, guardianship, Screening Tool of Older Peoples' Prescriptions (STOPP) and Beers criteria for prescribing, and the Consensus Model for Advanced Practice RN regulation.
