American Geriatrics Society's Foundation for Health in Aging Appoints Diane Drobnis Rosenberg to Board of Directors
Members of the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) Foundation for Health in Aging (FHA) have appointed Diane Drobnis Rosenberg to the Foundation's Board of Directors. Ms. Rosenberg assumed her new position on the FHA Board during the Foundation's October 2007 Board meeting.
"Diane is our second public member on the FHA Board," said Linda Hiddemen Barondess, the Foundation's Executive Director, and Ex-Officio member of the Board. "We are looking forward to her working with us in developing and implementing our strategic planning efforts."
The nonprofit Foundation for Health in Aging supports research concerning health in aging; educates older adults, their loved ones and the general public about the unique healthcare needs of older adults; helps train geriatricians and other geriatrics healthcare professionals to provide care that meets older people's needs; and advocates for healthcare policy and legislation that further support needed research, training, and access to care.
Chief Operating Officer of Meadowgate Farm Alpacas, LLC, in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, Ms. Rosenberg previously worked in medical publishing. At McGraw-Hill, Elsevier Science Publishing, Williams and Wilkins, and other publishing houses, she acquired and published technical books, text books, and medical journals. In 1990, she started a consulting firm that worked with medical societies on business arrangements for their journals. Ms. Rosenberg served on the Friends Board of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton for nine years, and was also on the board for S.A.V.E., a private Princeton animal shelter.
Ms. Rosenberg will join Drs. Meghan Gerety (Board Chair); Jerry C. Johnson (Foundation Treasurer); Joseph G. Ouslander; and Eric G. Tangalos; and Ms. Sheila Worthington Lirtzman on the FHA Board.
ABOUT AGS
Founded in 1942, the American Geriatrics Society is a nationwide, not-for-profit association of geriatrics health care professionals dedicated to improving the health, independence and quality of life of all older people. The Society supports this mission through activities in clinical practice, professional and public education, research and public policy. With an active membership of over 6,700 health care professionals, the Society has become a pivotal force in shaping attitudes, policies and practices in geriatric medicine.
ABOUT THE FHA
In 1999, the American Geriatrics Society reached beyond its traditional role as a professional medical society and launched the AGS Foundation for Health in Aging (FHA). The FHA aims to build a bridge between geriatrics health care professionals and the public, and advocate on behalf of older adults and their special needs: wellness and preventive care, self-responsibility and independence, and connections to family and community. The FHA champions initiatives in public education, clinical research, and public policy that advance the principles and practice of geriatrics medicine; educate policy makers and the public on the health care needs and concerns of older adults; support aging research that reduces disability and frailty, and improves quality of life and health outcomes; encourage older adults to be effective advocates for their own health care; and help family members and caregivers take better care of their older loved ones and themselves.
