Reynolds Foundation Now Accepting Letters of Intent for Fourth Round of "Geriatrics Training Grants" The Donald W. Reynolds Foundation has announced funding for a fourth cohort grants under its prestigious "Aging and Quality of Life Program" grants. The Reynolds grants support comprehensive projects that improve geriatrics training for medical students, residents, and practicing clinicians in all specialties. The foundation has awarded the 4-year grants, of roughly $2 million each, to three cohorts of 10 academic centers since 2001. More information is available at http://www.dwreynolds.org/Programs/National/Aging/AboutAging.htm. In announcing the 4th call for proposals, the Foundation noted that accredited osteopathic, as well as allopathic, medical schools are being invited to apply for the first time. To avoid duplication of effort and expense, applicants will be required to devote at least 10% of each year's budget to previous grantees, to provide for consulting and technical assistance in implementing programs or products already developed. A list of products and programs that previous cohorts have developed and that fourth cohort grantees may wish to incorporate into their projects will be posted on the POGOe site, www.pogoe.org, shortly. Letters of intent are due February 1, 2008; and proposals, July 1, 2008. Reverse site visits for finalists will be scheduled September 22-25, 2008. Grants will begin January 1, 2009. All Reynolds grant recipients gather at an annual 2 ˝ day meeting each fall to share the educational projects, initiatives and materials they've developed with the support of the grants. |
