Lauren Medalie, AGS' Manager of Professional Education and Special Projects, joined the staff of The American Friends of Migdal Ohr (AFMO) in January. Ms. Medalie, who had been with AGS since 2004, accepted a position as Associate Director of Development with the AMFO. The non-profit raises funds for Migdal Ohr, Israel's largest youth village, which runs a network of schools; operates a foster home complex for orphaned and disadvantaged boys and girls; provides academic and vocational studies; helps integrate new immigrant children into Israeli society through specialized curricula and after-school programs; and reaches out to impoverished families with children.

"I have learned so much during my time at AGS and met wonderful people," Ms. Medalie said. "Geriatrics is such an important area and I am happy there are such dedicated healthcare professionals working to help older adults. I am looking forward to helping American Friends of Migdal Ohr accomplish their mission to provide a better life for orphaned, abused, underprivileged, and new immigrant children in Israel."

Membership Coordinator Mary Anne Shannon headed to Burbank, California in January, to start film school. Ms. Shannon, who was an associate producer of documentaries in Boston and New York prior to joining AGS in 2000, will study video editing. "Although I'm very excited about going back to my first love, which is film, I really loved working at AGS," Ms. Shannon says.
