Fellows-in-Training (FIT)
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
The American Geriatrics Society (AGS) invites you to submit your nomination for the Fellows-in-Training Chair-Elect position. The Chair-Elect is elected annually. Only current members will be eligible for candidacy and nominations will be considered only during the year they are presented. You may nominate a colleague or you may self-nominate using the enclosed form.
Responsibilities of the Chair-Elect include:
- Working with the Chair in planning AGS Annual Scientific Meeting activities
- Submitting articles to the FIT newsletter
- Working with the Chair on the Fellows-in-Training Web site
Responsibilities of the Chair include:
- Working with the Chair-Elect to plan AGS Annual Scientific Meeting activities
- Writing articles for submission to the FIT newsletter
- Acting as spokesperson for AGS' fellows-in-training
- Acting as the fellows-in-training representative to the AGS Education Committee
- Serving in this capacity for one year, after serving as Chair-Elect.
Nominations must be made by January 28, 2008 and we will notify candidates who are nominated by others to ensure that they wish to serve. Nominations will be finalized by February 9 and a ballot will be sent to all members of the FIT section so that members may vote for the candidate of their choice. The candidate who receives a majority vote will be declared the winner. Each candidate will be notified of the election results and the successful candidate will be announced in the AGS newsletter as well as at the Fellows-in-Training Breakfast during AGS' 2008 Annual Scientific Meeting. The Chair-Elect's term as Chair will begin at the Annual Scientific Meeting, which runs April 30 - May 4, 2008, and will include service on the Education Committee of the American Geriatrics Society. Until then, the Chair-Elect will assist the current Chair as needed.
To nominate yourself or someone else for the position of Chair-Elect of the AGS Fellows-in-Training Section, Just complete and submit the FIT Chair Nomination Form. All nominations must be received by January 28, 2008 (extended deadline). A ballot will be sent to FIT members by February 9, with the winner announced by February 29. As per AGS procedures, the new Chair-Elect will become Fellows-in-Training Chair immediately following the AGS Annual Scientific Meeting in Washington, DC.
