Sunny Linnebur, PharmD; Annette Medina-Walpole, MD; Mark Supiano, MD; Elected to Board of Directors of AGS

The American Geriatrics Society (AGS) is pleased to announce that Sunny Linnebur, PharmD; Mark Supiano, MD, AGSF; and Annette Medina-Walpole, MD, AGSF, have been elected to a three-year term on the AGS Board of Directors. 

Sunny Linnebur, PharmD, is an Associate Professor for the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.  Since joining the AGS in 2003, Dr. Linnebur has served on AGS’ Health Care Systems Committee, the Public Education Committee, the Steering Committee and the Education Committee. Currently Dr. Linnebur is the Vice-Chair of the Public Education Committee.  In 2011, Dr. Linnebur represented AGS at the American Board of Internal Medicine Expert Panel for Care Coordination Practice Improvement Module.  Most recently, she was an expert panel member for the 2012 AGS Updated Beers Criteria

Annette Medina-Walpole, MD, AGSF, is a Professor of Medicine at the Division of Geriatrics & Aging at University of Rochester Medical Center.  Dr. Medina-Walpole is the current Co-Chair of the AGS Junior Faculty Task Force and is also a Section Editor for the upcoming Geriatric Review Syllabus. In 2008, she served as Chair of the AGS Annual Scientific Meeting Program Committee.  Dr. Medina-Walpole is the recipient of several national and local research and teaching awards including a Hartford Center of Excellence Young Investigator Award, AGS’ New Investigator Award, and a Geriatric Academic Career Award from the Department of Health and Human Services Bureau of Health Professions. 

Mark Supiano, MD, is the Executive Director of the University of Utah’s Center on Aging, Professor and Chief of the Geriatrics Division, and Director of the VA Salt Lake City Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center.  A member of the AGS since 1985, Dr. Supiano has presented at the AGS Annual Meeting, participated in the medical student research program, and was a member of the Research Committee from 1998-2004. He also served on the AGS Professional Executive Education Committee and was Program Chair for the 2006 Annual Scientific Meeting.  Dr. Supiano contributed content for AGS’ Geriatrics Review Syllabus and is an outgoing Board Member of the Association of Directors of Academic Geriatric Programs (ADGAP).
