NEW YORK — Each year the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) celebrates researchers, clinicians, educators, and trainees who have made outstanding contributions to advancing the care of older adults. We are pleased to announce the men and women who will be recognized at AGS’ 2013 Annual Scientific Meeting, scheduled May 3-5, in Grapevine, Texas.

An award ceremony is will be held on Saturday, May 4. Incoming AGS President Cathy Alessi, MD, will present the awards. Following the award ceremony, Cynthia Brown, MD, MSPH, will deliver the Outstanding Scientific Achievement for Clinical Investigation Award Lecture. Dr. Brown’s lecture will describe barriers to the mobility of hospitalized older adults, adverse consequences associated with low mobility, and results of a randomized clinical trial to increase the activity of hospitalized older adults.
*The Outstanding Junior Investigator of the Year, Outstanding Junior Research Manuscript, Outstanding Mid-Career Clinical Teacher of the Year, and Outstanding Junior Clinical Teacher of the Year are newly created awards to help advance the careers of junior and midācareer members of AGS.
