The Geriatrics Education for Specialty Residents (GSR) Program is a key component of the Geriatrics-for-Specialists Initiative (GSI). With support from the John A. Hartford Foundation, the program provides funding for specialty-specific initiatives from academic training centers to develop, initiate and evaluate programs designed to increase education for residents in the geriatrics aspect of the following disciplines:

After funding 82 awards, the Geriatrics for Specialty Residents (GSR) Program is no longer an active award. The GSR represented one of the GSI's most successful ventures.
