Opportunity Description:

Are you studying the many bioethical issues that come with modern aging research, such as genetics, data privacy, health disparities, personalized medicine, end-of-life decision making, and palliative care? If so, check out NIH’s reissue of an administrative supplement program for existing NIH grants “Research and Capacity Building Efforts Related to Bioethical Issues” to support research that will inform future policy directions.

Applicants proposing to examine novel bioethical research issues or challenges may request up to $100,000 in direct costs to add a one-year, bioethics-focused component to supplement their parent grant. While supplements must be within the original scope of the parent grant, the program is designed to allow researchers the flexibility to address any bioethics-related topic appropriate to their scientific project and goals or to expand the range of bioethics areas that they aim to explore.

Applications are due March 17, 2022. NIH plans to dedicate at least $2 million in fiscal year 2022 to fund approximately 10 supplements.
