Statement from Tanvi Shree Bharathan, M.D., M.S., FAAFP
Saint Luke's Hospitals

My passion for geriatrics stems from a commitment to improving care for older adults through innovation and education. In residency, I helped design the inpatient family medicine service, improving continuity and quality of care for hospitalized patients. I also completed a QI project on post-stroke depression prevention and am currently leading an initiative to improve screening for Leqembi eligibility in patients with mild cognitive impairment. These projects reflect my focus on advancing dementia care and my ability
to translate ideas into measurable improvements.

If selected as Co-Chair, I hope to:

  • Expand educational resources on emerging therapies and technologies in aging care.
  • Strengthen peer-to-peer collaboration through webinars, networking, and case-based learning.
  • Increase interest in geriatrics among medical students, residents, and early-career physicians by creating accessible, high-impact programming and mentorship opportunities that showcase the unique rewards of the field.

My long-term goal is to establish a comprehensive geriatrics program in my community hospital and lead innovative dementia care solutions nationally. I believe the FIT Section is a powerful platform to inspire future geriatricians and shape the future of our field, and I would be honored to contribute to its mission.
