New York, NY (April 17, 2026) — The American Geriatrics Society (AGS) is honored to announce that Todd P. Semla, MS, PharmD, FCCP, AGSF will be delivering this year’s Henderson State of the Art lecture, which will take place on Thursday, April 30th, during the AGS 2026 Annual Scientific Meeting which is being held virtually. 

Dr. Semla has more than 40 years of experience in the study and application of medication use in older adults. His career has been dedicated to leading the advancement of safe, effective, and patient-centered pharmacotherapy, as well as educating pharmacists, physicians, nurses, physician assistants, social workers, and other professionals who comprise today’s geriatrics care teams. 

Dr. Ariel Green to be Honored with the 2026 Thomas and Catherine Yoshikawa Outstanding Scientific Achievement in Clinical Investigation Award at #AGS26

  • At #AGS26, Dr. Ariel Green to receive the Thomas and Catherine Yoshikawa Outstanding Scientific Achievement for Clinical Investigation Award and deliver lecture on “Aligning Medications with What Matters Most: Challenges and Opportunities in Advancing Person-Centered Deprescribing.” https://bit.ly/41ZnGtM 

New York (April 13, 2026Today, the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) and the AGS Health in Aging Foundation (HiAF) announced that the 2026 Thomas and Catherine Yoshikawa Award for Outstanding Scientific Achievement in Clinical Investigation will be awarded to Dr. Ariel Green MD, MPH, PhD, AGSF, Associate Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University.

The award will be presented on Friday, May 1st during the AGS 2026 Annual Scientific Meeting (#AGS26), April 30th – May 2nd (pre-conference days April 27th -29th).  At the conference (which is being offered virtually), Dr. Green will deliver a lecture on “Aligning Medications with What Matters Most: Challenges and Opportunities in Advancing Person-Centered Deprescribing.”

Linda Ferrie Honored with Inaugural AGS/ADGAP Outstanding Geriatric Medicine Education Coordinator of the Year Award

New York, NY (April 10, 2026)—Today, the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) named Linda Ferrie as the recipient of the AGS/ADGAP Outstanding Geriatric Medicine Education Coordinator of the Year Award. This award recognizes individuals who have actively participated in developing geriatrics medical education initiatives, while they manage their primary responsibility of coordinating a Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program at their institution. The AGS will present the award to Ms. Ferrie, Education Program Coordinator for the Mayo Clinic Geriatric Medicine Fellowship in Rochester, Minnesota, during the AGS 2026 Virtual Annual Scientific Meeting (#AGS26), held Thursday, April 30th – Saturday, May 2nd with pre-conference days April 27th-April 29th.

AGS Honors Dr. G. Michael Harper with Dennis W. Jahnigen Memorial Award at #AGS26 for Lasting Impact on Geriatrics Education

Jahnigen Memorial Award, recognizing his lasting impact on geriatrics education through leadership, mentorship, and innovative program development. A past President of the American Geriatrics Society, Dr. Harper has dedicated his career to ensuring that all health professionals are competent to care for older adults regardless of specialty or discipline. With this award, AGS honors his deep commitment to geriatrics education and mentorship and recognizes his leadership in developing the programs and professionals who will care for us all as we age.

Veronica Rivera, MD, AGSF Honored as AGS Clinician of the Year

New York (April 6, 2026) — The American Geriatrics Society (AGS) today announced Veronica Rivera, MD, as 2026 Clinician of the Year. Dr. Rivera, Associate Professor of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, will be honored at the 2026 Virtual AGS Annual Scientific Meeting (#AGS26) happening April 30th – May 2nd (pre-conference days: April 27th – April 29th).
